Wellington to Adelaide

Hello all,
It was strange leaving Wellington, to head towards Victor Harbour, after days and days of flat countryside I was all of a sudden getting into hilly country.
The one thing I have noticed over the last few days is.............Victoria really is "the Nanny State". Over here there a trees right up to the edge of the bitumen, 65kph corners in the middle of nowhere in 110kph zones and not one sign of the "cheese cutters" which line a lot of Victoria's roads.

But then again this road name I drove along heading to the Mouth of the Murray might explain things.......
What the?
So it was across the Hindmarsh Bridge in Goolwa to source the Mouth of the Mighty Murray River down Bong a Long Road.......
Yep that's it
zoomed in, The mouth of the Murray
Okay, ticked that off the list, off to Victor Harbour for a look. The weather is 25-26C but a bit overcast, but a cool change if forecast over the next few days, with 18c the top for Sunday.....Hmm maybe North of Adelaide might be looking better.

Coming into Victor Harbour

Horse drawn Tram ride to the Island
I wasn't overly impressed with Victor Harbour, it was a bit yuppy for my liking. Upon leaving I headed for Deep Creek Conservation Park to stay a night or two. This plan changed abruptly upon the entry gate.............$10/day to drive in and an extra $16/day to camp!!!!!!!
That's $26/day for a basic campsite with longdrop toilets........that's more expensive than some Caravan Parks I have stayed at.
I am sure they don't want us there and have also lost touch with just WHO pays their wages!
Anyway the weather blew up something terrible, with constant gale force winds and frequent heavy showers. I stopped at Cape Jervis for a look over to Kangaroo Island.

loading the KI ferry
The guy in the white 4x4 with the black trailer provided quite a bit of amusement. People should not tow things if they can't reverse.

The Ferry
The Captain didn't mess around, as soon as the ropes were untied it was full throttle away to Kangaroo Island.

away in the wind, like the wind
Cape Jervis, for want of a better description, is a hole, the only thing of interest there is the ferry. With the weather like it was I headed for Adelaide.

Tomorrow I plan to head to the York Peninsula for a look around.
Bye for now.
